Hi, I’m Liam I have the best job in the world being able to throw my leg over our bike and ride it to the best of my ability. My promise to my team and management is that I’ll give 110% when on the bike at all times. Iv competed at this level for the last 4 years starting out on a 600cc freshman championship working my way through to a 1000cc national championship. I have motocrossed since the age of 7. We have big plans for our future and want to compete in the British superbike paddock along with some road racing thrown in there aswell. I have a passion for road racing however I’m still working on talking my family, partner and team into pursuing this dream with me.

Just four years ago, Gary’s son Liam, was showing great promise as a bike racer. Liam’s employer, Barrett Steel, showed its support by launching Barrett Steel Racing to nurture the young rider’s remarkable talent. At that time, the team comprised Liam, Gary, a 600cc bike and a van.

Since then, Liam’s progress has been astonishing: in his first year as a Superbike racer he achieved fourth place in the Championship and he now anticipates to secure 3rd place in his first season in the No Limits 1000 Championship!

As Team Principal, Gary heads up a committed and enthusiastic group which now also includes 40 + Sponsors a Chief Mechanic, Team Photographer and – by no means least in importance – excellent caterers who keep the team and their many loyal supporters happily fed and watered at race meetings across the UK!

“It’s my job to steer the ship and make sure the team and supporters are all well cared for,” says Gary. “I’m hugely proud of them all and highly recommend that you watch this space…!”

Hi, I’m Natalie Liam’s partner. My role in the team is to be there for Liam to lean on when needed, to support him in chasing his dream and constantly encouraging him to aim for that podium. I also ensure at all times that everyone is watered and fed assisting Michelle in the kitchen. Chief childminder for all attending kids. I help out with setting up and packing away at the end of the weekend.

Mike is the owner and MD of ScenePro Digital Forensics, a technology company that designs and manufactures ISO accredited forensic data-logging solutions. He is a forensic motor engineer, a tarmac motorsports specialist and a professional test driver who for many years ran his own race and rally driver development company. Mike has competed in a variety of motorsport disciplines and has been pivotal in the development of a number of championship-winning and record-breaking vehicles. As a professional driver, Mike has worked with several motor manufacturers and during his time with them, he studied vehicle chassis dynamics. Mike now finds himself a respected vehicle ‘limit handling’ consultant who provides his experience, expertise and technologies to support the investigation and reconstruction of complex and life-changing road traffic collisions. Mike is a key sponsor of Team BSR and has committed to providing the team with race data analysis in pursuit of their aspirations to progress into the British Super Bike arena. When asked about what he knows about motorcycles Mike replied “Nothing, except that they are faulty by design because even when they are new they don’t stand up unaided”

Firstly wow what an absolute pleasure this is to be apart of this incredible racing team.
3 years now I have been following Liam on his big journey and I still get the buzz every race meeting.
Me personally I am a wagon driver 5days a week for a transport company, I have 2 lovely boys what join me on our bike journey and they love the bike racing just as much.
I have followed Liam now for 3 years… and what an incredible journey it has been. The 1st year I followed as much as possible and was very proud. 2nd year in he gave me the opportunity to join him on his 1st race of the calendar at Donnington park in a cold damp march weekend in 2018.
I was so welcomed into the team by all family and friends, as I stood watching him line up on the grid waiting for him to start his race the hairs stood up on the back of my neck and the lights went out and he was off and what an amazing experience that was for me and my boys it was brilliant and from that 1st moment I knew this was gonna be the start of something brilliant.
As Liam progressed through the season it was clear to see that we have a brilliant, focused rider here.
Halfway through the season, Liam asked me to be apart of his team and pull my finger out and help him out. This is what I did and little to my knowledge he had me hooked into his team.
Moving into 2019 we had a launch night to show everyone Barrett steels racing teams new Kawasaki zx10r.
My homework was to make sure that every race meeting we attended the bike was stripped and rebuild and cleaned ready for liam to test on to ensure that the bike was set up for what liam wanted out of it for each track we attend.
This roll included a full strip down of the whole bike and then a clean and rebuild and small minor changes and adjustments to make the bike handle better for Liam to compete on. This would then ensure myself/liam and the team that the bike is fully working and ready to go out in every race we do through the season, Which I’m sure if you’ve attended one of our race meeting you’ll of seen this in action.
